About this project
A hand-crocheted sunflower keychain with a leaf - a complete beginner project with every supply in exact quantity, nothing extra to buy and nothing missing. You crochet a dense brown centre worked in a continuous spiral, from a magic ring out to 24 stitches, then edge it with about 12 pointed yellow petals, each made from a short chain worked back down in dc, hdc and sc. The leaf is worked along both sides of a 9-chain foundation with 3 sc around the tip, and its veins are stitched in afterwards with a yarn needle. Everything hangs from a keychain ring and clasp, so it is ready to clip onto a bag or your keys as soon as the ends are woven in. Finished size: sunflower 6-8 cm, leaf 5-7 cm, full hanging length 10-14 cm. Takes about 1.5-2.5 hours if you are new to crochet, or 45-75 minutes if you already crochet. Take your time - there is no wrong speed. Yarn used: yellow 15 g for the petals, brown 8 g for the centre, green 8 g for the leaf and veins, with a 3.5-4 mm hook. Quantities include a little extra so you will not run out. Stitches used: MR (magic ring), ch (chain), sc (single crochet), hdc (half double crochet), dc (double crochet), sl st (slip stitch), inc (2 stitches into the same stitch).
